As we close out another year in South Kitsap, the end-of-year celebrations bring joy, pride, and a great reminder of why we do this work. A school year represents a heavy investment from everyone involved. Throughout 180 days, there are moments of challenge and moments of celebration, but throughout all of them are meaningful experiences and relationships that have the power to shape lives.

To our staff, thank you for the energy, passion, and commitment you bring each day to creating opportunities and making a difference for our students.

To our families, thank you for your partnership and the countless ways you support your children, not just this year, but throughout their educational journey.

To our community, thank you for continually standing shoulder to shoulder with us and believing in the importance of our schools.

And most importantly, to our students, thank you for inspiring us, challenging us, and reminding us every day that the future of South Kitsap is bright.

This year, our Student Circle of Champions continued to demonstrate the power of student voice in shaping the future of South Kitsap schools. Students from Discovery, Explorer, and South Kitsap High Schools came together each month with school board members and district leaders to engage in meaningful conversations about their school experiences and opportunities for growth.

Throughout the year, students shared honest feedback and thoughtful ideas on topics such as cell phone expectations, increasing awareness of student activities, strengthening communication, creating safe and welcoming environments, and expanding opportunities for learning and engagement. Their willingness to share their perspectives and work alongside district leaders reflects the leadership, pride, and commitment of our students.

The conversations and ideas generated through the Student Circle of Champions will continue to influence the work ahead as we strive to make our schools places where every student feels they belong, believes in their potential, and can become their very best.

We look forward to continuing this important work next year and invite even more students to join the conversation. Stay tuned for Student Circle of Champions applications next school year!
