Fall Preparation

South Kitsap School District staff are working hard on preparations for the 2020-2021 school year. We have pulled together a large work group to focus on fall preparation that is comprised of administrators, teachers and support staff, parents, and students. The group is looking at several options that are based on guidance from OSPI and the Washington State Department of Health along with the current status of Kitsap County re-opening.

We are tentatively looking at four phases that match the governor’s phases. Our decisions will be dictated by the Department of Health and the Kitsap Public Health Department.

  • Phase 4 - tentative
Full-time face to face instruction in our schools. This is the most “typical” model but will require the state and county to put us into phase 4 and to loosen some of the current restrictions.
  • Phase 3 - tentative
Full-time face to face instruction in our schools with socially distanced classrooms (six-feet), masks for students and staff (current state requirement), health screenings for staff and students, limited gatherings and limited non-school access to our buildings.
  • Phase 2 - tentative
Blended model to support social distancing and to reduce exposure. Most likely having students in the buildings for two days a week and learning remotely for three.
  • Phase 1 - tentative
    Full-time enhanced Remote Learning.
